NCSS 2018
HOLY SMOKES! The NCSS Conference was amazing!! Seriously, it was some of the best professional development that I have ever received. It was truly inspiring to be surrounded by such passionate educators. I was able to re-connect with old friends, finally meet people who I “knew” but had never met in person and establish new connections with teachers who are currently, or will soon be, teaching blended AP Psych.
The presentation options were limitless. I spent most of the first day in the designated psych room but was able to stretch my legs and see an entertaining presentation by a NPR host, Peter Sagal. He is hilarious! If you have not attended NCSS before, I highly suggest that you look into it for next year.
On a side note, if you are a psychology teacher, I highly recommend that you consider joining the NCSS Psychology community. It is $30 for a lifetime membership! You will receive access to ALL of the psychology presentations from NCSS Chicago – and presentations from previous years, too! Other benefits include newsletters, networking opportunities, lesson resources and a private Facebook group. You can find out more here: http://www.ncsspc.com/ PLUS, this weekend only (ends Monday 12/3/2018 at 3 PM) the membership cost has been reduced to $25!
My Presentation
This conference was a huge first for me. It was the first time that I presented at a NATIONAL conference. I’ll be honest, it was a little stressful but it was so worth it! I’d love to share my presentation, “An Empirical Analysis of a Blended Classroom in AP Psychology” with you. It answered the following questions:1. What is blended learning?
2. Why did I implement blended learning?
3. What can it look like in an AP Psychology class?
4. Is it effective? What does the data say?
I also shared a new project that I have been developing for the Learning Unit. My students will be working on their Principles of Learning Project next week. I hope you find it useful. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or comments.
Sincerely,
Cori
